Just wanted to let you know about an Exitproject gig that’s coming up this Monday (23rd May).  We’ll be playing for around 30 minutes and giving away a free handmade owl to one lucky punter!

Our gig on 20th January was picked up by http://www.live-music-scene.co.uk and it’s a down right loverly review!  Even the crochet owl got a mention…

Kicking off the night are the electronically epic and wonderfully folksy Exit Project. After making a slightly nervous start, vocalist Emi Jarvi says a warm hello to the audience and the set starts to pick up. She keeps up these chatty, down to earth addresses to the audience throughout, even finding time for a crochet owl giveaway!?

It’s not that often you see a cello on the stage at the Fleece, yet its low hum adds depth to their sound. Combined with sporadic keyboard tinkling and soft melodies picked from the acoustic guitar the music has a transcendent, other worldly feel, and Jarvi’s soaring vocals top it all off magnificently. It’s clear that the band are having a great time.

We have a drummer!

And just a quick update on the song – we’re actually working on two songs at the same time at the moment.

Why?  Yes, good question.  We wrote a verse and chorus – both of which we liked – but they didn’t work together.  So we kept them both, split them up and we’re working ‘em both up : )

Man, there’s been lots going on… I should blog more.

Our nickname for Patrick is ‘groupie number 1′ because he’s always really supportive whenever he hears us play.

But last week we lost ‘groupie number 1′ – because he joined the band. :)

As it happens – Pat rips it up on the upright bass.  He even MADE an upright bass when he was in highschool – yes, he’s that hardcore.

Ever since J and I met Pat (which was the night we recorded the cello parts for ‘First Breath’) – we wanted him to join the band.  But he was in another band so we didn’t want to ask him to join up and be rejected.  Basically, we had a band-love-triangle going on.

But at the last rehearsal, Pat asked if we wanted a bass player for the night – HUZZAH!  So he stepped in and away we went.  It sounded awesome, there was much joy, gladness and fat grooves.

We’re psyched he asked – it’s kind of like being too scared to ask someone out, but then they ask YOU out – except with music.  Welcome to Exitproject, Pat, we hope you stick around!
